We had an unbelievable evening with our first Champions Banquet. We had 115 people there tonight…every chair and every table was filled to capacity and we were squeezed into the room. And I was greatly touched by the number of champions who came to celebrate what God is doing–the leaders who are becoming healthier, the churches who are experiencing new life cycles and the congregations that are multiplying.
At the banquet, we shared our desire to help churches create a new life cycle. Before the banquet, we asked churches and pastors in our network to nominate a congregation that could benefit from a church transformation consultation but are just not able to financially support the consultation. [Read more about the application.] Rather than turn away churches like these, tonight I ask for those in the room to help HGC ensure one of these churches receives a free consultation, valuing $15,000.
I have reviewed all of the commitment cards this evening and we have commitments and cash received for $30,000! That was from only the ones who were there tonight. I was as much touched by the $10 and $20 commitments as I was for the $5,000! We had narrowed the list of scholarship applicants down to three churches and we were going to have to pick one…now we can do two, and I would love to see our extended network give another $15,000 to do all three. Eternity will be changed because of what happened tonight. A year from now, there will be people who know Jesus through these churches that don’t know him now. I do praise our Savior and Lord for working way beyond what we could dream or imagine.
